Talking to GodsGirls #7: KORTNI

Sporting a shaved head and her penchant for dressing up, Kortni’s photo sets here on Godsgirls.com are definitely memorable. She often employs wigs, makeup, costumes, and props to alter her look and personality, resulting in some wild transformations.
We caught up with Kortni and discovered that she got into modeling four years ago at age 18 for one major reason – the money! Of course, she also does it to have a good time. In addition to GG, Kortni has been modeling for both personal and professional clients. "I like to help out friends who are photographers, and I also do commercial work, most recently I shot for Folter Clothing catalogue."
Fun Facts About Kortni -- She has a lucky number 13 tattoos, five piercings, and her ears are stretched to 7/16. "I work at a shop and since I'm the helper/apprentice, they always try shit out on me... Now I have lots of random, awesoooooome tattoos."
Don’t worry, she’ll get her to chance to do the same thing to other unsuspecting victims. Employed at Big Daddy’s Tattoo in Harbor City, CA, she is currently a piercing apprentice. "I'm also going to school for drawing to I can feel confident enough to start an apprenticeship towards becoming a tattooer."
Kortni is very happy to be a part of the GG community. "GodsGirls has really helped my career! I've met so many new people in the industry and so many friends. Models, photographers, makeup artists, stylists... a lot of the time, we'll end up working on side projects together as well. So it’s been great!"
More Fun Facts -- Kortni describes herself as goofy, loyal, drunk, OCD/ADD, and cuddly.
Here’s how Kortni prepares for a photo shoot: "I eat a lot of crap the day before, knowing I won’t wanna eat very much until the end of my shoot. I also make sure to get a good night's rest on the night prior to shooting... shit like that."
Kortni lets us in on what goes through her head during a photo shoot."That depends. On top of thinking ‘keeping the tummy in’ and figuring out where the light is gonna hit me and all the technical shit, basically I just focus on having fun... I like to be goofy in my shoots. I'm not afraid of looking stupid and unphotogenic."
Speaking of which, while Kortni can’t pick out a favorite among her many GG shoots, she does have an idea in mind to shoot in the future: "I wanna dress up like a penguin." Hopefully, Christine and Matthew are reading this and calling a costume shop! Even More Fun Facts -- She loves penguins and baby seals, and there’s one more type of animal she favors: "I loooooooooove Hello-Kitty! Like obsessively!"
Kortni has the following advice for any aspiring models just starting out. "Basically, you should learn something from each shoot. Know what you're comfortable with and what you're not. Relax. Have faith in the photographer. Be open to direction. And most importantly, remember that you are there to look good and have the camera on you, so have confidence in yourself!"
Final Fun Fact – Kortni hates boys’ kneecaps. "Is that weird or what?!?!?!" Yes, that is weird, I say, covering up my knees…
