My country tis of thee...

listening to: Filter - Anthems For The Damned

I sometimes wonder about this country I call home. I constantly listen to people bitch and moan about the rising cost of gasoline and yet when I am out on the road traveling, the interstates are as busy , if not more so, than what I can remember them being when gas was not as high as it is now.  And the majority of the vehicles I see are from out of state or Canada. When I pass the local hotels at night, the parking lots are overflowing as well. So it would seem to me like the oil companies know that we Americans will pay whatever the cost to get where we need to go. As long as the demand is there, the price will either rise or hover around the price that it is. Perhaps if we as a nation took a real stand, something may happen. Take a vacation close to home, carpool to work, etc. I realize that this won't happen, but it was a passing thought. Peace~
