I love the Adirondacks.

I'm in Washington, DC with 20,000 of my fellow librarians. I wonder how many other librarians are starting their day with GG?

I've already been doing conference stuff for FOUR days and I'm kind of sick of the crowds and having to be constantly in professional mode. Sometimes I just don't feel like chatting pleasantly about libraries and books and such like. Sometimes I just feel like curling up in my room with the new Ian Curtis biography and a couple bottles of wine...

But now I'm off to do my duty, with visions of Ariel and Kayla-Jane dancing in my head.

My lady and I spent the last week in the Great American Desert and stopped in at the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah where we got to hang out with their rescued pigs.

Pigs totally rock.

I love pigs!

Things are suddenly moving fast around here. At my big event less than two weeks ago someone asked if I'd be interested in applying for a job. It's totally an inside thing--the job hasn't even been advertised--and now they want to see my resume.

I'm kind of flipping out, mainly because this new job pays about $40,000 MORE than I make now.

There's only one way to cool myself down -- Fancy Ices!

I am so incredibly relieved that my BIG THING is over, I can't even begin to say. I have next to nothing on my plate for months to come, which means I get to focus on whatever strikes my fancy. Which is nice.

AND there's a brand new LOW album out, which is always a good thing. Not so keen on the new Modest Mouse, but I sort of expect them to crap out sooner or later. Low, however, just keeps on giving.
