yikes. that' a hard one! i guess it depends how close of a friend they were to you and if it would mean something if you lost them as a friend. dating friends always is a tough situation, because almost always the friendship is ruined :( but if you need to get it off your shoulders, then maybe you should?

yes. i would undoubtedly blurt it out at the most inopportune moment and in a loud and awkward fashion, most certainly with a tone of urgnecy. and he would think i was insane or possessed by satan, so even if the feeling wasn't mutual to begin with, it would be after that. but that's just me... but for real, i would rather tell the truth and risk losing the friendship than be doomed to limiting my feelings. are you sure it's not mutual?  

i wouldnt say anything. crushes go away eventually. friends are [hopefully] forever.
