I had mentioned to some of you that I was due to be transferred sometime this year.  I wasn't sure when or where I would be going.  I tried going through Human Resources Command, to request a few certain commands or locations, but everywhere that I really wanted to go was already filled.  There were no vacancies for my rank and job specialty.

As it turns out, another command in my building sent a special by-name request to Human Resources Command, asking that I be assigned to a vacancy that they had in their unit.  There are several people in that command that have known me and worked with me before, and they have been asking me to transfer to their command for the past couple of years, but I kept telling them that I didn't want to be in that unit.  They also knew that I was due to be transferred soon.  When I found out about the request being at Human Resources Command, I asked one of the people from that command if she had anything to do with the request.  She said that she had recommended me, but she was afraid to tell me, because she thought I would be mad at her.  I told her that not only was I NOT mad, but I was happy that she did it, because I can't get any of the assignments that I really wanted anyway.  If I can't go to an assignment that I want, then at least now I won't also have to deal with moving, in addition to going somewhere that I wouldn't have wanted to go anyway.

I received my orders this morning.  On June first, I will report to that unit, to begin working for them.  Apparently, I will still be in the Pittsburgh area for at least another couple years, or so.  I am fine with that.  I am used to being here, and I am "relieved" that at least now I know where I will be for a while.  It all worked out pretty well for me.  :)
