My New TOY!!! 07/06/08 06:40 pm pst

Not smoking for the past 3 days has led to two big problem-like things.
1. Eating like a starving rhinoceros.
2. Doing anything to keep busy, including going out to the mall, and other stores, to shop frequently.
I have had a cheap little digital camera for a while, but I had been thinking about getting a better one. Today, I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XSi (EOS 450D) Digital SLR camera. I also bought an extra zoom lens, a 4GB memory card, and the "starter kit" (camera bag, extra battery, and UV filter). This camera has 12.2 Megapixels, for pretty high image quality.
I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, when it comes to cameras and taking pictures. There are all kinds of neat little doodads and geegaws on this thing. One of the reasons that I chose this camera is because it seems to be really user-friendly and it has fully "automatic" features. I will still be able to just "point and shoot". WOOHOO!!! :)
I don't know when I will have a chance to take it out and take some pictures, but I am kind of excited to try it out. I was talking to a friend of mine about possibly going out this Thursday night, to a local women's fashion show. Her fashion store is one of the stores that will be modeling some of their outfits in the show. I "might" end up going and taking my camera for a "test run". That would be a pretty good way to find out how it does in indoor, low-light, distance shooting. Of course, I rarely go out on work nights, so I don't know for sure if I will end up doing that, or not.
I might take it out to the trail where I do my running and walking, and take some pictures of flowers and stuff, just to test it out for those kinds of shots. Who knows? I have no idea yet when or where I will be "test shooting" my new toy.
Remember models, you can have friends shoot your DIYs, but they can not be professional photographers. I am definitely NOT a professional photographer! ::: HINT, HINT ::: :::WINK, WINK ::: HA HA HA
Here are a few pictures of the camera and the other stuff.
The stuff still in the boxes.

The stuff outside of the boxes.

A close picture of the camera, the lens that came with it, and the extra zoom lens.
