Not smoking for the past 3 days has led to two big problem-like things.
1. Eating like a starving rhinoceros.
2. Doing anything to keep busy, including going out to the mall, and other stores, to shop frequently.
I have had a cheap little digital camera for a while, but I had been thinking about getting a better one. Today, I bought a Canon EOS Rebel XSi (EOS 450D) Digital SLR camera. I also bought an extra zoom lens, a 4GB memory card, and the "starter kit" (camera bag, extra battery, and UV filter). This camera has 12.2 Megapixels, for pretty high image quality.
I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, when it comes to cameras and taking pictures. There are all kinds of neat little doodads and geegaws on this thing. One of the reasons that I chose this camera is because it seems to be really user-friendly and it has fully "automatic" features. I will still be able to just "point and shoot". WOOHOO!!! :)
I don't know when I will have a chance to take it out and take some pictures, but I am kind of excited to try it out. I was talking to a friend of mine about possibly going out this Thursday night, to a local women's fashion show. Her fashion store is one of the stores that will be modeling some of their outfits in the show. I "might" end up going and taking my camera for a "test run". That would be a pretty good way to find out how it does in indoor, low-light, distance shooting. Of course, I rarely go out on work nights, so I don't know for sure if I will end up doing that, or not.
I might take it out to the trail where I do my running and walking, and take some pictures of flowers and stuff, just to test it out for those kinds of shots. Who knows? I have no idea yet when or where I will be "test shooting" my new toy.
Remember models, you can have friends shoot your DIYs, but they can not be professional photographers. I am definitely NOT a professional photographer! ::: HINT, HINT ::: :::WINK, WINK ::: HA HA HA
Here are a few pictures of the camera and the other stuff.
The stuff still in the boxes.

The stuff outside of the boxes.

A close picture of the camera, the lens that came with it, and the extra zoom lens.

I have decided to try quitting smoking again. I currently have 3 cigarettes left in the pack. When those are gone, later today, I am going to start wearing nicotine patches for a while, and I am going to quit smoking again.
I have been smoking a pack a day for about 22 years. The longest that I have ever quit was for 4 months, about 5 years ago. During that 4 months, I gained 40 pounds and said "screw it, I am going back to smoking". I spent that entire 4 months as an incredibly miserable, irritable, short-tempered, scowling, unhappy individual. I was seriously beginning to act like a typical non-smoker. I kept asking people "why in the hell do you non-smokers even bother to get up in the morning, when your lives are this miserable?" I was extremely disappointed to find out that the whole "things will smell better and food will taste better" thing is just a load a bullshit that non-smokers tell smokers, to try to trick them. At around that same time, my wife quit for about a year. Her experience was about as miserable as mine, and she also agreed that the smelling and tasting thing was bullshit. If anything, the eating experience is WORSE, because you can't enjoy a nice cigarette afterward.
I have been working on getting my regular exercise and diet routine going, for the past few weeks. Hopefully, I will be able to continue with that, to help counteract some of the weight gain that will occur, when my metabolism drops down to that of a non-smoker (yes - smoking actually DOES increase your metabolism - that part is not a joke). The last time I quit, I spent most of my time lying on the couch in unfulfilled misery, because I just did not have the energy to get up and do anything. Plus, there was no incentive to go out and exercise. What in the hell is the point of doing a 3 mile run and then a brisk 9 mile walk, when you can't even enjoy the reward of a nice, relaxing cigarette when you are done?!?!?! THAT is my regular routine, and the cigarette at the end is the BEST part of it!
My wife is also quitting again. Luckily, I am stationed in the Pittsburgh area, and she is living in our home in another state. If we were both quitting at the same time, in the same place, then we would definitely be in the newspapers for a murder or murder-suicide. I don't know which one of us would end up killing the other first, but it would be one hell of a race, once we both started thinking and acting like a couple of filthy, nasty, disgusting, cruel, mean, heartless NON-smokers! We both took last week off from work and spent 9 really nice days together. We intentionally waited until AFTER that to quit smoking, because we didn't want to try to spend time together while quitting. Neither of us is planning on visiting the other, until at least sometime in August. I have a 4 day weekend starting today, so it is a good time to quit now, because during the first 4 days of becoming a non-smoker, I won't be tempted to send one of my co-workers flying through my second floor window!
Well, I guess I am about to embark on a life of unfulfilled misery. I am about to voluntarily make my own life horrible again. If any of you happen to see a news story about a 6'5", 250 pound man rampaging through the streets of Pittsburgh, grabbing people at random, tossing them around like rag-dolls, and finally being brought down by about 30 or 40 rounds of ammunition being shot into him by the police, then well... umm... you probably should not expect to ever see me posting again.
Has anyone else ever noticed that ever since they started all of this silly "anti-smoking" bullshit just a few years ago, in the 80s, there has been a marked increase in random violence, random shootings, people suddenly going psychotic for "no apparent reason", etc.? Coincidence??? I think NOT!!!
P.S. - Only 2 cigarettes left!
Mine and my wife's 12th wedding anniversary was the 22nd of June. We have been together for a total of 14 years. We both always take that week off from work. We had discussed it, and we were both just "burned out" from work and wanted to spend time together, relaxing. We didn't feel like traveling this year, dealing with hotels, etc. She decided to just come up here and stay with me for the week, and we would do some fun "local things". For those of you that do not know, I am stationed in the Pittsburgh area, in the Army. She lives in our home in southern West Virginia. She has a great career with Verizon, so we did not want to mess with that, when I was getting stationed up here. It is about a 4 1/2 drive between here and home, so I have an apartment here, but it isn't too bad of a drive, if one of us wants to visit the other on a weekend, or something.
She has been up here since last Saturday. She will have to go back to home Sunday, to go to work on Monday. I will also be going back to work Monday. It is already Friday. I can NOT believe how fast this week has gone. We had 9 days total, but there are only a couple of days left. So far this week, we have gone to the zoo, the Carnegie Science Center, went out to dinner at a couple of our favorite places, plus we went to a restaurant that we had never been to, but we have been wanting to try. The meals at this new Italian place were kind of expensive, but it was authentic Italian food, and you get HUGE portions!!!! We were both really happy with that restaurant. We have also spent the past week taking turns sexually molesting each other on a frequent basis.
I gave her a necklace, as her anniversary gift. It is a 14 karat gold chain and pendant. The pendant is sort of a "wavy" design with 5 diamonds in it. The diamonds are 3/8 carat. She doesn't usually wear much jewelry, but she really loved this necklace, because it matches the new wedding ring set that I just bought for her a little over a year ago. I didn't even realize that it matched, until she saw it and said something like "Oh my god! It matches my ring!" (Three cheers for accidental scores! HA HA HA) I bought her a metal jewelry box with two large hearts on the lid, and I had the hearts engraved with our names and the fact that it is our 12th wedding anniversary. I gave her the jewelry box as her "present", but I had the necklace inside the jewelry box. She had to open the box for the jewelry box, then open the jewelry box, then open the box for the necklace, to get to the necklace. She got a good a laugh out of having to go through all of those boxes to get to her real gift, because I do that kind of silly stuff to her all of the time. Seriously, I have no idea how she has put up with me for 14 years. LOL
Our cat lives with her, back home. He has his own set of toys, food dishes, water fountain, etc. up here, for when he visits. My wife brought him up with her, so I get to spend time with him too. I spoil our cat "almost" as much as I spoil my wife! :)
This is our cat "Re" (pronounced Ray).

This is the jewelry box that I gave to my wife.

This is her new necklace.

Gotta go. We are getting ready to go out for dinner.

A few of the models on this site have recently made some journal entries, thanking me for doing some nice things for them. I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" back to all of you!
Some of the posts were about GG necklaces that I sent to a few of the ladies. When talk of the necklaces first started about the necklaces, I just KNEW that I really wanted to get one for "NYX", because I think of her as my little "buddy"! She is just TOO SWEET to even properly describe!!!
I immediately told her not to order one for herself, when they go on sale. Once they showed up in the store, I had one sent to her. When I saw how excited she was about getting one, I decided to send some to a few other people, just because I like doing nice things for nice people. You should definitely all go show some love for "NYX", because if it wasn't for her, I would probably never have thought to do that.
I STILL can not get over the fact that the models on this site consistently go out of their way to show appreciation for all of the members, whenever they can. It is probably one of the things about this site that makes so many people love it so much!!! It is so much nicer than having models that you never communicate with, who basically think "they should all worship me, because they get to look at pictures of me naked".
Once you have gone and shown some love for "NYX", then be sure to also show some love for Lou, Eva, and Maga. They have all been so nice about showing love for me! :)
I just looked in the online store. The necklaces look like they are still in stock. I don't know how many are left, but there were only 40 made. With all of the posts that I have seen, where people have already ordered them, you may want to put your order in, as soon as you can. They will probably be "out of stock" soon. Remember, they make EXCELLENT gifts!!!! Believe me, the models get all kinds of excited when they know that they are getting one. You might want to consider sending one as a gift to your favorite model, or a model that you are good friends with!
A lot of the other models show love for me, and other members, on a consistent basis. Sorry that I am not naming everyone individually. This is mainly a response to a few of the recent journal entries that I saw, where models were specifically posting things for/about me. It is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
XOXOXO
Chris
