After my plane was delayed for FOUR HOURS (which is longer than the flight itself) I finally got in to Melbourne at about 1:45AM local time (as opposed to 9:10PM), caught a cab straight to Charlotte's house and I am now camped out on her loungeroom floor in a pile of black blankets and the occasional appearance of Jackson, her gorgeous black dog. Apparently this morning I looked like a 'gothic princess' to quote C herself, with my hair flowing over my shoulders, swathed in black blankets and hugging her puppy.
I miss a few people, one certain person very much. Yep, I went and fell in love with someone in Perth in the lead-up to moving to Melbourne. Smart, right?
Today, I wandered Prahan with Charlotte, and then caught a tram all on my own downtown and wandered around, trying to get my bearings. I'm also in the process of writing my cover letter for what sounds like an AWESOME job. Cross your fingers for me, folks!

As for the love-interest in Perth - he can move over to Melbourne. Even though he may not know it, it'll be in his best interest to do so :)
Sorry to hear about the 4hr wait - but at least you weren't trying to depart from Sydney (my personal best there is being delayed for 12hrs due to thunderstorms/curfew).
Once you get to know her, Melbourne will treat you well. She's easy to get around, and never lets you down.

Thank you! Another Perth expat in the city! Well, the love interest isn't tied to Perth, fortunately. But unfortunately, he's not an Australian citizen and his visa runs out in early-March which means that we only have limited time together unless he can get sponsored for PR. Or I'll just have to more to Europe :D
This is only my third full day here and I'm already totally in love. Got the hang of the trams, and I'm looking for houses in various suburbs. And I'e had some AMAZING vegetarian food! So many more options than Perth, it's awesome. I'm totally in love with this city!
