i shot this at my best friends pad in glendale. hes got a balcony that overlooks the city that i used in another set with tomi. in this set i used his couch, which is one of those huge sprawling things that you look at and wonder how they were able to get it through the door. it curves, its low to the ground, and theres a thing that sorta fits in it. weird. but i likes weird. and its bright red and if you hadnt noticed, im a big fan of color. the lighting setup here is simple. as is most of my work. i rarely work with more than two lights. i prefer my work to be spontaneous. and you cant do spontaneous with a ton of lights. it restricts the models movement. i ask models to move about on their own because im really not a fan of the posed look. so even when you think you see a shot where i posed the model, chances are it was completely natural. the touchy part about this set was hiding the piles of "stuff" he had sitting behind the couch. occasionally you'll see a piece i couldnt crop out of the shot, that my editor apparently missed when she photoshopped this set. tomi had a LOT of black clothing, so i relied on my lighting and backgrounds to try and set each photoset apart. tomi is new to modelling. i think this may have even been her second shoot. and i hope she wouldnt mind me saying this but she was definitely shy. theres some models that id really like the chance to work with more because sometimes it'll take more than one shoot to really get a model out of her shell. having said that though i actually really enjoy the way she appears in this set. theres a shyness and reserve to her character here that i think ultimately is very sexy. she appears to me to be that type of girl that may be a bit shy at first but is a wild woman behind cosed doors. and again, im merely speculating, but thats the fantasy that i tried to portray here. needless to say, tomi has an amazing body. its a rarity these days to find boobs like hers on such a small frame. truly incredible. shes got a great face. shes cute as hell in person. she also has great personal style. although i wouldve prefered to have more variety in clothing ... everything she brought looked great. she has her own twist on the goth.emo thing. i know people hate labels, but thats sorta how i categorize that look. but shes got a very feminine twist to it. which i think is hard to find these days. so .. yeah ... im really happy with how this set turned out. :)
