I had a really embarrassing experience today at work. The store was incredibly dead, so any time a customer came in I was able to take the time to say hi to them (which we are meant to do to everyone no matter what). Some customers came to the counter and I served them. About five minutes later I saw a family standing near some PS2 games so I went over and said hi and could I help them - then they turned around and it was the same people I had just spoken to. They looked at me like I was a complete idiot. I apologized and said it was just habit to say hello to everybody. How bad would that have looked to them! I had forgotten them already!
Then I realized how passionless I am in my job, and how little attention I had clearly paid to these people. I guess faces blend together when you don’t enjoy your work and you only greet people that you know, or feel obliged to talk to. Not because you want to.
How uncool. I dislike retail, A LOT. I wish I had a job where I didn’t have to pretend to like every person that walked through the door. I’d like a reception job; I am great on the phone.

i had a reception job for a year, and you still have to pretend to like everyone that walks through the door. that, and the fact that i'm terrible on the phone, made me want to kill everyone around me.

OMG I know what you mean, that used to happen to me allll the time, I hated it...I was a hair stylist too so I was suppsoed to remember eeeek

I hate it when they remember you and talk to you in other stores?!?!?
Ask you for help with something at a place you've never worked at you are just shopping at >_<

haha i get asked for help all the time like in supermarkets and shit. its crazy!! and yeah i hate when customers ask me about games and people like call and say "HEY alisa its *insert name here*" and 9 times out of 10 i dont remember them hha
