Change of Plans and a Sneak Peak! posted : 03/04/13 at 07:08pm pst

 Hello Lovelies!!

So I don't have a ton to say, thought I'd pop by and share a recent (today) decision that @TheJRock and I made!

We decided that we're not in a good financial position to go through with the wedding, so we've cancelled it for now. We're in a position now where we might need to buy a car, and we just don't have the funds. I think we're leaning towards eloping when we do go, maybe Vegas or a small island.

I just have to vent though, sometimes people really are the most frustrating part about getting married. Everyone wants to be a part of it, which is lovely and I appreciate they care, but people put so many demands on you and seem to forget who's paying for it! Even now when we're talking about eloping, people are like "I better be able to come!" THEN IT WOULDN'T BE ELOPING! Like obviously the important people that's a given, but these obscure friends who you don't see often come out of the woodwork and try and make you feel bad when you tell them they're not included.

Anyway, that's that! We're fine, relationship is still solid no issues there. We both already feel a MILLION times more relieved and less stressed and we're looking forward to saving money and spoiling ourselves a bit - I NEED INK!!! SO FUCKING BAD!!! It would also be nice to be able to travel or at least go camping this summer since I haven't in two years and for me that is blasphemy!!

So, that aside, PREVIEWS!!!

I decided to make all my other fans and friends wait, but you guys get previews cause you're awesome and I love yas! <3

P.S. Yes I'm a total freak, I love doing cheesy little theme sets for the holidays, I may even do each one! It's just so fun I can't help myself! I will have more good sets now that not all my money is going to a wedding!

QUESTION: Would a sexy Mary Magdalene set be inappropriate for Easter? I mean, she was a prostitute after all.....

It's for the better I think, we want to be able to look forward to it not rip our hair out over it. And I think even if a location wedding ran us the 5000$ we budgeted, at least it's a vacay too! LOL

Thanks love! :D

I know exactly what you mean.  My ex-wife and I were engaged for about a year and trying to plan the wedding was damn near impossible.  Her family is half japanese/half irish, my family is hispanic.  So trying to sort out what food to have at the reception and where was just the tip of the ice berg.  In the end, after all the back and forth between families and trying to figure out some way to make everyone happy, we just went to the courthouse and did it ourselves.  Afterwards we went to dinner and watched a movie, just the two of us, which was nice.  Our close friends that really knew us, knew it was fitting for us.

As long as you two are happy when you make your vows, that's all that really matters. :)

Aw yay! Yeah exactly! Like if we take off we'll probably have a party down the road when we come back, but I'd rather deal with everyone after than this trying to make everyone ELSE happy! But yeah that's what ends up happening! Like it would blow my mind when I'd make a decision and my Mom would be like "Well so and so won't like that..." It's not so and so's wedding!!! They aren't footing the bill! LOL

Oh yeah, everyone had an opinion of what should be in the ceremony and reception, but no one ever mentioned pitching in for the costs.   What was funny was my side of the family gave me shit for awhile cause I was the only one that had gone and done the courthouse thing.   Cut to a couple of years later when my older cousin that everyone looked up to, did the exact same thing.  Suddenly it was a good decision and she knew what was best.

Exactly! My Mom has been for us eloping the whole time, I decided I've had enough of pleasing everyone :P Besides, they'll have enough to deal with once I have the money to point my ears and I just show up one day with them done LOL I should carry a camera for first reaction shots...

If you are looking to save money/not spend a ton of money on your wedding going to an island will not be cheap. Going to a "small island" will be even more expensive (the less popular the destination, the more remote, the more costly). I'm trying to visit my family this summer in Hawai'i and I'm lookin' at paying $950 roundtrip and that is just for me and that isn't even including having to eat food and stay somewhere (although I may stay with family). Just throwin' that out there.

Ok thanks love, seriously, cause I don't have a clue and that's really good to know. I was surprised when a friend said some islands can be really cheap weddings, I don't know if she means like Cuba where you can get all inclusive....but that sounded odd to me. I'm leaning more towards Vegas, or maybe P.E.I./NewFoundland where Jordan is from.

Cuba is hella complicated to visit. I am not sure you would be let in, honestly. I'm pretty sure you would need to apply for a license in order to be permitted to travel and spend money there (the restriction comes from the U.S., I believe.) Like, even my Spanish professor who was attending a conference had to jump through a ton of hoops just to get approval to go there. Like, I don't know how hard it is to get a license, but you do have to apply for stuff and have things way planned out and once you get to Cuba it will be kind of complicated and there are all these rules (again, imposed by the U.S.) and it is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah, islands are very expensive to travel to. At certain times of the year it is cheaper (like flying to Hawai'i in march is like $600) but food is super expensive and if you want to plan on staying anywhere other than a hostel you will be paying like, $200 a night for a tiny, tiny shitty room at minimum. Which would make for a pretty bad and expensive honeymoon.

Really? Everyone I know goes all the time on all inclusive vacations, it's so popular they run into other Canadians at the resorts, sometimes from the same city lol

Yeah I figured they'd charge just as much as anywhere else if not more for something tropical, that's why I'm not really worried about that, there's so many cool places to go where it would be nice to get married.

Oh, right, you're in Canada. I know that for U.S. folks restrictions are in place from the U.S. so I'm sure it is different for Canada.

But I know that Cuba did not like being a playground for rich white folks and that was one of the many reasons that folks revolted there in the first place. Tourist destinations tend to wreak havoc on the resources of islands, pay very little for those who hold the jobs in the service industry, create a demand for prostitution (I don't have a problem with prostitution but in on other islands it is a lot of young/underage poor women who have little choice), and frequently the money made goes back to other countries (like in the case with Hawai'i, like 99.999999% of hotels are owned by non-Hawaiians). I am not sure how Cuba feels about tourists today, but I know a lot of other folks on islands, Natives and locals alike, despise tourists with a fiery passion. So, just keep that in mind.

Ohhh ok yeah, that makes sense!

Yeah that makes total sense, I'm not the kind of person to be into chilling on a resort anyway, I like experiencing the culture. There have been Canadians murdered in Cuba on different occasions :S

Aw, I think you made a very adult decision in cancelling/waiting to get married. A lot of people would have just continued on, trying to get the wedding all planned out to the last second then realized they didn't really have the money for it. So I think you made a good decision! And I'm glad the relationship is still good <3

LOVE the Saint Patrick's Day photos<333 You are so perf I swear. As for the question-- I'd LOVE to see a Mary Magdalene themed Easter set. Hell yes. Yes yes yes yes. Yes. Please?

LOL after some discussion I'm thinking it would be safer to steer clear, but I MAY do one based on  Eostre, the pagan Easter goddess of fertility. Not sure yet though, cause Easter is actually the end of March this year I don't know if I'll have time to get it in without making Jenna rush

Oh no doubt! A large backyard or even a meadow/field would be perfect for an Easter set. That way you could have hidden easter eggs or something :P Lots of them!  OH NO, I have a better idea Somewhere that wild Easter flowers grow! There's a park here in my city where the easter flowers grow rampant!

It'll be their 51st anniversary. They got married March 31st, 1962. :)

Oh wow that sounds lovely! Yeah I'm think'n it would be best outside, not a lot of places here for it and I don't have time to use a friend's backyard.

Aw that's so awesome! So rare anymore! My congrats to them! :D
