When my African-American studies teacher posed the question, "How can black women get mad at white women for taking they styles, yet black women got relaxers in their hair to make their hair straight". That got me thinking. He's right. So after 4 months of keeping my hair pressed during HOTLANTA heat, I took the plunge and cut my relaxer out.

My mom yelled at my saying how I wasn't going to get a job. I fired back tell her that people will find more reasons than just my hair to not hire me. I've been not hired because of my race before. I've been not hired because of my real name before. (btw, if you believe racism doesn't exist anymore, take your head out from under bedrock and live my life for a day or pm me, thanks)

My is not naturally straight and it will never be. My mom permed my hair because it would be easier for me to do and kids are cruel (when i was younger), I felt fake. God made me with tightly curled thick hair, who am I to change it? Who are people to tell me my hair is "nappy" because they don't have the skills to comb through it or it's "ugly" because it grows up instead of down? Too "nappy" and "ugly" for God? He gave it to me. Why are people so fixated on telling others how to live? It's my head, it's my life, fuck off, as far as I'm concerned.

Whoopi Goldberg hasn't had a perm since she's been in Hollywood and had a long standing career that spans what....2, 3 decades? She's got dreads and she's in the public eye. I'll be screenwriting, behind the scenes.

As for modeling, I'm going to assume I'll wear wigs and straighten my hair. It's playing make believe anyways. I didn't handicap my hair, I just styled it and cut if different. Hey, maybe I'll be liked better for it who knows.

But as of right now, my beautician and myself is my only support. I have self respect. I've always done my own thing no matter how much shit I get, I've never changed for anyone and I don't intend to start now.
