Hello lovelies. How is everyone???

I have the day off today, and am going to attempt to get a few things done that I've been procrastinating on. Especially since my time as a non-college-student may be fleeting. My last few entries here indicated that I had given up on getting into grad school this year, but the tables surprisingly turned and there is now actually a pretty good chance that I will be admitted to Pacific for Fall '09. The possibility of this is consuming most of my thoughts right now. I don't especially want to return to the world of academia, but I think I've had just enough time off to remember that being a full-time animal specialist in a retail store will never satisfy me mentally. My current job isn't bad. In fact, I'm pretty lucky really. I have a regular schedule and considering the business I'm paid quite well. I have lots of freedom and respect on the job, but there is obviously something missing from the picture. It's time for me to finish what I set out to do when I started.

The program itself is only two years. I opted for this over doing a doctorate which would take me 5 years and put me in over $100,000 debt. The idea of a doctorate is nice, but not at all reasonable. My ability to help others will not be based on my credentials. Too many people get hung up on that as it is. Anyway, the second year is almost all internship, so that means that if a spot opens up for Fall '09, I could be counseling clients (under supervision, of course) by the end of 2010. That 's pretty exciting! :-) 

To have a job that truely challenges me in a meaningful way has been a dream of mine for so long. I like that it might actually happen in the near future.

This will probably postpone my ambitions to buy a house and cash in on Obama's first time home buyer rebate thingy, but I can live with apartment life for a bit longer if the reasons are right. I do already have my new "zoo" planned for when I have more space. I will have a pug named Chug, and bulldog named Chim-Cham, and a patagonian cavy and a potbellied pig yet to be named. I've also been curious recently about Savannah cats. Perhaps one of those delightful creatures will be in my future too. Who knows what the future will bring.

Oh oh oh.... also, I'm super stoked because Hezzy is throwing a little dinner party for the NW godsgirls next Tuesday and I get to see some of my favorite ladies again. Word is that Mame is coming and staying with me, so that will be bitching. That woman rocks. Annnnddddd, there is possibly going to be a Lily visit involved too if she can make it out here, and that's definately something to get happy about. I'll keep you lot posted on our Northwest shenanigans.
