Last night I found my kitty, Odin asleep in his litter box, he was so weak, he could barely move. I pet him and he was purring as much as he could muster, I knew he was basically about to die. I wasn't depressed, depression strikes me and I can't be at all productive, I edited some photos instead. I watched him vomit some fluid on the floor and I knew his time was coming.

I took him in my arms and went to sleep, he layed next to me and I cuddled with him, I listened to his breathing and I knew he was barely making it, it was shallow and rapid and his heart rate was fast and weak. I woke up a few times and I he was still in my arms but not moving, when I got up after my alarm went off I found that he had passed away sometime during the night, his body was still warm and flexible either from being next to me or perhaps he had just passed, I'm not sure.

I called around to see what I should do with him, and made plans for him. I don't think I ever loved an animal like I loved him, and I only had him for a short time, when I got him, he just crawled on my lap and went to sleep and thats why i picked him out. He was by far the sweetest pet I ever had and I feel lucky that I adopted him over anyone else even if it ended like this.

I'm actually very glad that I didn't have to put him to sleep in some public facility and he was able to die comfortably in my arms. Love is magic, love will comfort you, wake you out of death and into the sweet sleep of death. Love survives past the point of death. Love lives on regardless and because of this, I know we have a soul.  After our bodies pass, the love of those around us carries on.
