let me lure you into my seldomly updated blog with the prospect of some news and nudes.

i apologize for having been away for so long. i'd promise it won't happen again, but to be honest, the next few weeks are looking to be similarly packed as the last ones. there was a time when i used to be perpetually bored out of my mind, but that seems long ago now. right now, i wish for weeks with more than seven days.
i've been painting lots, travelling around the place, busy with university, popped out my digital release on itunes and the likes, and you know, my usual endeavours, spinning records, posing for pictures, editorial work and whatever else.. anyway, to cut it short i've been swamped with stuff to do and i feel i've shifted the weight of life into meta-levels: the crisis of contemporary painting is of more importance to me than anything remotely connected with what one would perceive as actual reality. i don't mind it much though. where i am isn't bad. it's been far worse. sometimes i take a brief look at my life from what i'd like to be an objective perspective and find myself astonished by, well, i'll tell you that much, it's quite something of a bohemian cliché.
so be patient with me, as i certainly don't mean to neglect you. at least rest assured that during my breaks, i'm piling up tons of images to share with you sweet people and i'll let some of them speak for themselves before i go on.

here are some random pictures of lovely people and guinea pigs.

i went to leipzig for a short vacancy to visit some of my dearest friends from the idiot graphic school i used to go to. i can't believe i wasted three whole years in that establishment, but what i can say is that it was definetely worth getting to know these people. i spent three quite amazing days in leipzig exile, three days of red wine and white nights of talking, reading and dreaming, a small lapse in the space-time-continuum. adrian gave me an awesome screenprint he did that will adorn the walls of our kitchen.

funny how watching other people's progress makes you realize you yourself have been subject to change, maybe even evolved..? maybe i needed that to be brought to my attention.
here's some of the doodling i've been doing lately:

i'm never satisfied, but i have the feeling it's going somewhere, you know? i see my limits and my boundaries and i don't mind. i think within what i do, i can still expand a lot. it's intriguing. it's exciting.
our releaseparty was also one of the highlights of the last weeks. we had a pretty awesome crowd that night. our tiny set turned out to fill forty minutes straight, with me being forced into a never-ending cover of brian eno's baby's on fire, mashing it up with alan-vega-lyric-snippets and spooky delays. for my third gig, i think i did pretty well. here are some pictures. i look very angsty in those, which i find rather amusing as i didn't really feel like the agonizing convulsion that rumples my face in some of these.

my theremin brings all the boys to the yard. and they're like, it's better than yours. damn right, it's better than yours.

dramatics!

my super-hot bambi crew.
well now of course, i need to go for some shameless self-promotion, since all that good stuff is now available on itunes, beatport and so on.. go. buy. my. tracks. please.

or say hi on myspace.
to round up this whole entry, more nudity, captured by sandor lubbe of zoo magazine:

also, i just caught the flu - which is partly the reason i found the time to write this blog.
so i will now go back to drinking tea that tastes like soap water and feel sorry for myself.
i have to get well soon, i can't possibly be sick now, for as i've stated above, these weeks are awkwardly full to the brim of things to take care of.
good things though. some of these good things i'll keep for myself (i don't suppose you want to read my essay on merleau-ponty's flesh of the world compared with flesh within the works of francis bacon, or do you?). some of these good things you'll get to see. exhibitions, more art, naked cyborgs, magazine spreads, vinyl releases, ah, just wait and see.
love & rockets,
edda
since i can't edit the header, i'd like to point out that the song i was listening to is actually not at all called hot pepper but much rather puff and bunny. how silly of me.

You're mindblowingly attractive, you know that? Art-creating, music-making, Bilal-appreciating, Welles-watching, stockings-wearing, European-based lovely. It's like a perfect storm. It gives me a headache.
... Which I hope isn't flu-induced. Get better!
oh why thank you. you know bilal? awesome. pretty seldom that anyone from overseas is interested in the francobelgium comic scene.. :)
yes, i sure do hope it gets better,

funny, here in germany people only

... ( view thread )No, I was certain I'd not heard of her, but that stuff is amazing... and probably not english translated. Is she?
She sort of reminds me of Lily Lau Lee Lee, a comic
oh wow, that looks awesome. and quite a similar style indeed. naive and childish but deep and dark at the same time.
yes, i think they've translated her.. at least "die hure
... ( view thread )I'll definitely have to import it, it looks great.
As it turns out, I've read Anke's stuff before... She was in the SPX 2000 compilation (which I unfortunately lost). I'm
she's fucking rad. unfortunately she's been lecturing in italy this semester, so i couldn't take her courses, but i'm really looking forward to going back to her classes

Wow, I like your art quite a bit
and i'm quite a bit glad you do! :)
( view thread )It's interesting, I can't draw at all.
So maybe thats why I love art so much, I dunno haha.
technique can be learned and trained. it's not that important in art. it's just easier as a means to express oneself to know what you're doing but i don't think it's

i always love your journals and your pictures. your gorgeous :)
thanks heaps! :)
i'm really digging your new set, though you do creep me out a little as a blonde. but only in a surprisingly good way.
( view thread )it creeped me out too
( view thread )i would have thought so.
when i used to dye my hair bright pink, i always took a few minutes time to look at the bleached blond before colouring it and wonder how i would like
... ( view thread )HAHAH me too
when i got my hair dyed to pink or when i use to have purple i use to stare at the mirror after she bleached it. except it was more like a sweet orangey blonde

I'm glad your being kept busy with things you love to do...theres nothing much that can compare...and I love your nekedness..always such a classic beauty
thanks. there is indeed not much that can compare. i can't remember when i last felt this.. "alive" ... it's nearly as though i just recovered childhood's unquenchable and

You are a very beautiful woman. Clothed and not. And your art is amazing just as sketches, where can I look at some complete paintings? I will listen to some of your music soon...
go stalk me here: http://nothingnatural.deviantart.com
i'm not much for complete paintings, though. it's not really my medium, or i haven't yet explored it in the way i want
... ( view thread )Your art is complete then. If you want it as sketches than that is what you do and I love it. You are a very talented woman, extremely attractive as a whole. You can't say
... ( view thread )oouh. glad you did. i'll try take a look later today - i shouldn't even be distracting myself with the boobie site right now, as i am in the middle of writing an essay. ;)

Hot damn girl, you're looking GOOD!
Still loving your arts too.
I've been semi-missing myself due to job hunting - stupid layoffs.
Hope to have that remedied soon. *crosses fingers*
ALSO - feel better, and I really likes ur muzak!
you do? that's so awesome. and it's not really muzak technically speaking, or is it.. club muzak? :D
( view thread )
TECHNO MUZAK! I was just being silly - it's muSIC def. :) Comfort Zone rules.
Also, when I used your itunes link it didnt' work. So I searched for "Waving not Drowning"
... ( view thread )yes. i know, there's this silly band that's actually called "not waving, drowning". but they list it as wnd nevertheless. why does the itunes link not work, i hate itunes.
... ( view thread )I dunno - it said the itunes server was busy - but then i searched and it worked. May have been an issue on my end?? i dunno!
( view thread )i don't have itunes and i don't want to install it, so for me the link goes nowhere... well nevermind. at least it's searchable.

actually, i'd LOVE to read your essay on merleau-ponty vs. bacon ;-)
you would? well hold on a second cause i'm writing my first one on deleuze and the potential power of cinema... but i can send you the other once i'm done.
( view thread )well, i don't want to appear greedy, but why not make it a double feature, then? deleuze is always welcome here. but take your time - first get healthy again...
( view thread )haha, this idiot me HAD to go to a concert yesterdayand got really really sick now.
i'm on it but keep running circles around adorno and caligari. this wasn't the plan.
( view thread )i hope the concert was at least worth it?
( view thread )it was, so was the whole evening, but i did get fucking wasted and have no idea how i got home. it's embarassing though. this hasn't happened in quite a while.
( view thread )makes you wonder if something like this ever happened to adorno... ;-)
( view thread )i think it's quite likely. ;)

you're awesome. Glad you enjoyed the art lesson. I know way too much about my top three so I can rant all day. I love your drawings in this post. They are nice. I have been drawing in pen alot lately. I like the emphasis on line, and not as much on shading. I also stopped using a grid so much so you would stop yelling at me.
P.S. I wanna do a portrait of your vagina, so if you aren't super offended, you should send it over. I have only done Laryadactyl times like twenty and one of Livia. So I need more practice.
what are your top 3? michelangelo, bacon (if i recall?) and..?
yes, i'm trying to let loose a lot. use shading only if necessary.. i realized i don't want to be a

... ( view thread )Its my favorite cliche. I am pretty sure my work is slightly influenced by it. My favorite Salome is Moreau. It is awesome, mainly because it is a water color.

yes, the symbolists have my heart too. it's just not really something that fits our time, which is why i think i failed.. beautifully mythical
