my birthday was awesome. a-w-e-s-o-m-e. no kidding. here's a little medley of awesomeness to make you jealous you missed out.

i actually even got a theremin, because, you know what? my friends are awesome. i also got a bunch of other nice stuff, quite a lot of alcoholic beverages (now what does that tell me about how my friends perceive me?), sex toys, a book about anita berber, a gorillapod that unfortunately doesn't withstand the enormous weight of my camera, a full version of samplitude (so i can load some eerie sounding audio plugins and pretend to be a coil vibealike, because basicly up to now, that's all i do), a few cds and some other things i can't recall right now. oh yes. and a surprise concert from malk who played at my party. did i mention my party kicked ass? because seriously, it did. even my parents and my grandfather were there and actually stayed up rather late. and the local city magazine took a few photos for their next issue. sweet.
these days are so tiresome. i have no time to update my journal. in fact, i have no time to do anything much. still running superlate on half my errands. this is the life. we had a gig on friday in bochum, a silly little provincial venue i used to spent lots of time in because they used to have the best goth parties and when i was a goth girl, we went there a lot. goth girl? well yes. proof follows:

so we took that little trip down memory lane and here's the flyer to go with it

we're waving not drowning, by the way. not reptyle and not for against. and not goths, either.
we did a coverversion of brian eno's baby's on fire. it was fun. especially because i didn't know the words by heart until about five minutes before the show, but i think i pulled it off pretty well. there'll be a video and i'll be sure to share, so you can judge for yourselves. in between the parts where i sing, i'm just having fun twisting the knobs of the tremendous theremin. the audience was a bore though. they don't move around much, goths.
then on saturday i spun at who killed bambi?, which by now you all know is my own little baby. the club was packed and it was a really wonderful night. except for the cd-players at the venue which, well, they suck big time. if they dare to accept your cd, you still have the problem of the cue and play buttons that have their own ideas about when to react, and the fun goes on as they refuse to pitch anything down. lovely. but matthi and me are so cool, that can't stop our bambislashin' frenzy.

matthi and me being way cool after slashing the, uh, pillows for lack of bambis.
that was in berlin, last winter. i miss berlin.
the other news are. i've been crying a lot. i dreamed of drowning, five times in a row. not waving at all. i thought i heard my neck snap at some stage but then it didn't. it just goes on. and maybe that's the tragedy. sometimes it's louder than others. sometimes deafening. and then it goes back to the rustling noise of atoms crushing.
i painted a picture.

i cut my fingers while cutting bread. twice.
index and middlefinger of the left hand.
and my right hand still looks fried. sometimes i think i am retarded. or a genius in self-sabotage.

i have an exhibition at the end of the week. well it's a group exhibition. and it's fetish-related - allthough what i do is mainly explicit, not really fetish at all. but nevermind. i've been just too selfconscious about not showing my work and that just has to stop.
i'm going back to that small town giessen on wednesday, to spin records at the birthday of my friend ferdinand who i like to share bathtubs with. amongst other things.

then back to cologne.
when i come back viola comes to visit.
if you do not know who viola is, you are spending way to little time on this site. so go meet viola.

and i'm meeting her for REAL and she's staying a few days and you guys ought to be so envious.
i'm just going to bother her and take photos of her all day until she starts hating me.
no, we're also going here:

oh yes. that's the afore-mentioned place where the group show i'm involved in is. but there's also an opening party and bob and i provide the soundtrack to that. and the reason why the girl on the flyer looks like me is that it is me. that's a lot of me for an event i initially had nothing at all to do with.
and then we'll do some touristic things like walk around the cathedral and that's about all the touristic interest cologne bears so then we'll hang out in cafés and i will cook nice things because i always cook nice things an it will be sweet. viola just has to put up with the complete lack of comfort our flat holds for visitors. but the last visitors didn't seem to mind much either.

i'm going to do some hot salsa for nachos for when bob comes home and we're going to watch a movie and eat.
because despite everything, i am the best housewife in the world.
toodles,
edda

Theremin set, STAT!
Goths don't laugh!
You are gorgeous and I am happy to hear that you b-day party went awesomely...

ah, the theremin isn't exactly the original thing. it doesn't have the antenna in the middle. it's an optical theremin, it has little holes that are the sensors. in fact, it basicly just looks like a little box with knobs.

w00t self portraits. You shouldn't worry about showing your art. It is a lot better than mine, and I force mine down people's throats.
I like your goth phase. I think everyone needs some kind of phase like that in there life. It makes you a more interesting person. Your hand is still made amounts of metal. I am excited you had a fantastical birthday.
Edda

Ooh you got a theremin? Awesome ... here's a video of a cat playing a toy theremin, to galvanize the occasion http://www.kontraband.com/videos/14329/Kitty-Meets-Theremin/#show
