Disappointed With Humanity ..

Some folk say that an intelligent person is never afraid or ashamed to find errors in their understanding of things.

This past weekend I have been completely disheartened, and in an ugly rage which isn't exactly becoming for anybody.

On Sunday I went to visit my Nana on my Fathers side of the family.
I adore her and it pains me that I don't see her often enough really, she is such a vivid character and remarkably fun to talk to. She is a strong personality, and the kind of person that others naturally gravitate to. Whenever I'm on a break from touring, I do visit her as much as I possibly can.

When my Nana answered the door she seemed more like a shadow of herself, her eyes weren't as bright as I remember and she seemed very subdued. She cannot walk very well at all these days, but she is too proud to use any form of aid other than my Grandfathers old walking stick, and at the weekend she was visibly in more discomfort than usual.
My Nana is the sort of person who doesn't like to worry anyone, and who really doesn't want to be a bother (even though she never could be), and therefore it is a complete headache to convince her to speak of anything that upsets her.

After three cups of tea my Nana finally told me why she was rather out of sorts. On the previous Saturday she was mugged, in broad daylight, in the middle of a super-market.
The super-market CCTV was apparently 'faulty' in the particular section that my Nana was in, and so that is of no use whatsoever. Everyone in the immediate area turned a blind eye as not a single person attempted to stop the thief, and my Darling Nana was left all alone and frightened. mad

My Nana was in Bromsgrove which is a small town a bus ride away from where she lives, as the local super-store near her residence got closed down to make way for more apartments. whatever
After she gave the Police her statement she was able to phone my ex Step-Mother, who thankfully went to collect her. Now it's no secret that I think of my Father as a vile example of the human species, but he happened to be on holiday in Spain at the time, so we can forgive him for not being in the position to help her just this once.

Monica (my ex Step-Mother) works shifts and was due to work the night shift at the Hospital, so when they got to the house she gave my Nana a key in order for my Nana to be able to come and go as necessary.
My Nana phoned her other Son, my Uncle Trevor (who I almost dislike as much as my Father) as he has a set of spare keys for her house. After roughly five minutes of searching he informs her that he cannot find the keys and hangs up.
My Nana phones every lock-smith number that she can locate, and all but one refuse to come out on a Saturday night. Relieved, my Nana walks quite a way back to her house and arrives early.. only the lock-smith never comes. By this time it's dark outside and my Nana cannot walk back to Monica in bad light, it's hazardous for her. So she spends the entire night sat in her garden, and walks back to Monica at 08:00am when it's light - just in time for Monica finishing her night shift. Of course she doesn't tell Monica this.

How can her own Son treat her that way?!
My Nana has always done everything that she possibly can for her family, she made great sacrifices in the past and no matter what the situation, neither of her Son's have ever offered her any form of support.

I asked her why she didn't call me, or even my Mother, and she simply said that she couldn't remember our numbers. I felt stupid for having asked her that, I can't even remember my house number let alone my phone number.. I haven't had this number for long, and my Mother she hardly ever has need to phone. Of course she wouldn't remember them.

I'm so disappointed with the world, and in that disappointment I am naive, as by now I should know that the realities of the world seldom measure up to the sublime designs of human imagination.

Some people really are foul. How can someone do something like that to an elderly person (or anyone for that matter)? Well I suppose the argument is that the elderly are easy targets.. but it wasn't even pension day and more over, is it worth the petty cash?
Apparently whoever it was attempted to take money out of two of my Nana's accounts roughly an hour after her bag was stolen. Naturally they weren't successful with the whole PIN number deal.. which begs the question: Why bother?
It isn't just the stolen bag and its contents, it's the whole knock-on effect that something like this has. The distrust that it breeds, the nervous energy, and the hurt. My Nana is too shaken to leave her house at the moment.

How can people hurt each other so much and in so many ways? Human Nature is often a cruel thing.. and although it is something which has always fascinated me, I have accepted that I will never fully understand it.

Well Sweeties, I do apologise for the rant.. a more pleasant blog entry for you all next time.. right now I'm going to curl up with a book, and hope that karma catches up with the fucker real soon.

Tattoo Jam & UK Gods Girls ..

Hello Zom(ba)bies,

Last weekend I spent my time in the quaint little seaside town of Llandudno, Wales with some of the other UK Gods Girls. We were all there for the Tattoo Jam in association with Skin Deep Magazine, and each one of us was ready to run riot in the place. Oh yes, a weekend of much debauchery was planned!

I had been looking forward to finally meeting some of the other ladies, and it was an absolute joy to be able to get to know them better in person. I had the good fortune of becoming acquainted with Diana, Hope, Sakura, SJ, and Tassy <3
A massive Thank You goes out to the lovely Tassy for organising the whole weekend, and sorting out a Gods Girls booth.

Unfortunately for Savage and I, our usual 'house help' let us down rather last minute, and with October being so young she is an extremely demanding little lady. So me, Savage, October, and Squidge (our dog) all piled into the car for the trip. I wasn't able to spend as much time as I would have liked with the other girls, due to having to do the Mummy thing, but much fun was had and many photos were taken none the less!

We stayed in a gorgeous hotel right on the peak of a huge hill, and our room overlooked the entire town. It was such a beautiful view, but because our Staffordshire Bull Terrier is ever so slightly stupid, we couldn't open the bay windows for fear of him jumping out of them. I still couldn't resist taking some pictures..

.. and the view from the smaller, second window..

There was a kind of creepy Dude who I bumped into on the first night, and for the duration of the weekend he kept coming over to talk to me. Apparently his business were unveiling a new tattoo gun that would change tattooing forever, I didn't really buy into it, but I humoured him anyway. He was quite a character.
I also crossed paths with a German man who was rather sweet - but I cannot remember his name, and he seemed quite taken with the concept of the Gods Girls site. He took some flyers away with him and visited the stall a few times, I hope he signs up - he was pretty interesting and really laid back. I should have passed on my email address or something.

UKGG were asked to model for the Fashion Show, and although the majority of the outfits were less than desirable (at least for our tastes), the option to model some jaw droppingly gorgeous corsets did arise.
I decided to hang back and take some pictures for the Fashion Show, and when it ended I found myself suddenly cornered by some press from the BBC. I did something of a mini interview with them, if anyone catches it on Television - Please let me know, Savage and I got rid of our box when October was born!

The weekend was a nice opportunity for networking really, I made good contacts with Tattoo Savage Magazine - so watch this space!

The layout of the venue was a little awkward, it seemed like a rather strange choice to host the Tattoo Jam. The building was very long and the Convention was split between several floors, downstairs was a huge hall with the majority of tattooists and some stalls, the separate stage room, and cafes. On the upstairs levels there were other artists and booths all split into different rooms. I think that the majority of people didn't actually look around the entire place, which was a bit of a shame.
The town itself was fun, and the English weather decided to play the Summer game for a few days which made it seem all the more enchanting. I don't quite think that the local towns people knew what hit them when a massive influx of heavily tattooed types entered the sleepy little location.

It was a total delight to see so many amazing Tattoo Artists in one place though, I adored walking around and viewing some specialist works by the talents that were there.
A few of us got tattooed over the weekend, but Diana got tattooed one night in her hotel room - Rock n Roll Baby!

Some Picture Goodness: Diana and Sakura ..

(Never try to rock and look after a Baby, you end up looking as shattered as me ..)

Fun Times: Hope, Tassy, and SJ <3 ..

I bought a rather swish 'Gods Girl' belt buckle from Diana, and I love it. I'll post some pictures of me wearing it soon. If you're interested in getting one yourself drop Diana a line, I think she may still have a few left so you could be in luck!

The London Tattoo Convention is coming up fast, I'm planning on going for the whole weekend. Many of the other Gods Girls are planning to attend this year as well, so I'm mighty excited at the thought of catching up with the Beautiful ladies who I've already met, and meeting some new Gods Girls too.

I may even be getting inked there this year. Hells Yeah!

Hello Sweet Things,

I've been so charged with creative energy lately that I decided to indulge myself, and I purchased a new digital SLR camera. I've spent entirely too much money for my bank balance to look even remotely healthy, but already I feel that the new addition is more than rewarding enough.

Once again Savage and I are looking at moving our UK residence, we have our current UK property up for sale, but with the appalling state of the housing market at the moment we aren't really expecting to be able to shift it any time soon.
On the plus side of the housing price slump, we are able to afford far nicer properties in our desired locations. The fact that when our house sells we'll get less than its worth, does admittedly negate some of the benefit, but we still come out better off.
We've found stunning properties in Lichfield, Leamington Spa, Sutton Coldfield, and Warwick. Lichfield and Warwick are our preferred choices, with a lot of greenery, Cathedrals, Castle, and historical buildings they're absolutely beautiful places.

I'm planning to set up a home photography studio, well in honesty with the size of properties that we're looking into, it'll be more like a professional photography studio that we just happen to live above. Savage is also still working on having his music studio built in too, but we're not sure whether to run it from a different site or not as of yet.

Life as a Mommy is very hectic but I'm enjoying it remarkably. A lot more than I expected I would.
October is growing so quickly, sometimes I feel as though I blink and she's grown. She is due to model the Autumn range of baby clothing for an organic company, Perfect Start, and the shoot should be taking place next month.

Today is Savage's Birthday, and I've booked a hotel in the Peak District until Wednesday. We're going to hit the road in the next half an hour or so, it's been a while since we've taken a trip away together without some sort of chaos or work related commitment, so I'm mighty excited for the break.
The Peak District is so picturesque, even when the weather isn't all sunshine and blue skies, I find it to be a truly brilliant place for inspiration. I expect that I'll return home with an over worked camera, pages of manuscripts, and a stimulated mind bursting with ideas and over-flowing with creativity.

I hope to get a chance to shoot some DIY sets whilst we're there.

Hello Cupcakes,

It's been a while since my last update, and for that I do apologise sincerely. However I'm sure that you can understand just how much turmoil and change I'm experiencing in my life at the moment.

So during the early hours of Friday the 23rd of May, at precisely 04:00am my waters broke. After roughly a 36 hour labour, Baby Girl: October (Tobi) Fernandes Rose was born at 14:26 in the afternoon on the 24th of May. Arriving to the sound of Aerosmith - 'Ain't Enough' going into 'Walk This Way', and weighing 5lbs 13. She is roughly a month early, and so tiny.

I'm so in love with her <3

I'll write a more detailed update for you all soon, right now I can't bare to take my eyes off of October for a moment! She really is my whole world.

Until later..

Some English Villages Are Scary ..

Hello Darlings,

Last weekend the beau and I went on a bit of a road trip, or as much of a road trip as one can really take in England. I had been searching E-bay for all sorts of wonders, and came across an entire decent name drum kit for an absolute steal. The kit is brand new, I doubt it has ever been touched more than once, and it has a perfect silver finish.
The nice couple who were selling the drums wanted it to be a collection only deal, with the bargain price of the kit I couldn't argue. I honestly don't think the couple really knew what they had when they decided to sell these drums. I'm under the impression that a younger family member had perhaps fallen to some tragic circumstances, and they were letting go of what wasn't needed or what wouldn't be used. I didn't want to press the matter.

So we get told that we should head down south to Exeter, and the house is only five minutes outside of the City. This was our destination. However, before I tell you all more about that, allow me to backtrack..

A few days before gaining the knowledge of the boner inspiring drum kit, we sat down and had a talk about Squidge (Our Staffordshire Bull Terrier), and how he would take to having a baby around in a few months time. He likes a lot of company and attention, and we both felt that he may feel a bit pushed out once our little baby arrives, so we thought about the possibility of re-homing another dog. They would be good company for each other.
Whilst looking through the Dogs Trust website, I came across a gorgeous eighteen month old terrier named Sophie. We filled out an adoption form for Sophie, and decided to confirm a date to visit her by phone. The reason we didn't list a date straight away was due to the fact that Sophie is in the Dogs Trust center in Newbury, which is a bit far from where we are based at the moment.

So a few days later when we knew we had to go and collect the drum kit, we figured we could stop into Newbury on the way. Sophie is such a tiny little girl, I could carry her with ease, and Squidge gets along with her famously. The Dogs Trust were happy too, so it looks as thought we may well be re-homing her this weekend!
The only thing is that Sophie is completely deaf, and she has been since birth. She requires another canine companion, and special training, as such the Dogs Trust have found it difficult to find her an understanding home. I cannot wait to collect the little lady.

After visiting Sophie we set off for Exeter, by this time it was around 15:00 and we were optimistic to think that we could be in Exeter for 16:15. The motorways were pretty easy going, I couldn't tell you too much about this part of the journey, I rested my head against the cold window and drifted off into my own mind, while the stereo played such delights as Jeff Buckley.

Whilst we were driving towards Exeter my beau's phone rang, and I was jolted out of my dream like daze. I answered the phone and it was the lady we were traveling to collect the kit from, she was just calling to see how we were getting on, and also to let us know that they're actually in a little village a bit more than five minutes drive outside of Exeter..
This information would have been so much more useful before we set off, but neither of us mind random changes to plans. I asked her if she would be so kind as to send us some directions through text message, she said it would be no problem and sure enough, a few minutes later some directions arrived.

It turns out that they didn't live close to Exeter at all, in fact they live in the middle of nowhere. I don't mean this in an over exaggerated way, or that they live a little into the countryside, they really do live as far away from civilization as one can get.
We followed the directions, by 16:30 it was pitch black and we were traveling down extremely narrow country roads, the English weather was not being kind with hail and heavy rain crashing down, and there wasn't a single light to be seen anywhere except for the car headlights.

Recently we got a new car, but that's a whole other story, so our poor little motor is battling its way through all of the twists and turns when we end up in something of a valley.. insanely steep hills were not very fun to drive up, and the motor almost completely gave out on us.
We kept driving and eventually realized that we were probably just getting more and more lost, however periodically we kept passing hand written signs for 'CIDER ->' I began to get a little creeped out.

Finally the headlights shone onto a small road sign which read 'Dunsford'. A village! Huzzah! We were both pretty hungry at this time, in need of a cash point, and I really wanted to pee, so we drove in hopeful to find a nice warm pub. Driving through the village was eerie, there was no one in sight, not even a single solitary dog walker, no lights on in any of the houses, the church was locked, the Hotel was closed, and the pub.. there was one light on behind the bar, it looked empty but I had faith. We parked up, and I ran up the steps only to find that the pub was also closed.

At 17:00 on a Saturday the pub was closed. There wasn't a person anywhere. This place was a ghost town.

I found it all to be a bit freaky, even Squidge seemed a bit unsettled, so we tried to phone the couple. No mobile phone reception.. Oh the joy.
We started up the car again and headed out of the village by a different route to the way we came in, and there in front of us was a sign for 'CIDER ->' Argh!

After many twists and turns and about another hour of frustration, we finally saw a small cluster of houses amongst a hillside, and found the couple with the drums. We were both too tired to bring up the issue of "Excuse me, but I do believe this is not Exeter!" .. so we loaded the drums into the car, and went inside for a chat and a very welcome cup of tea.
When I asked "Is there a cash point near here?" and they replied "Oh no love, the nearest one is in Exeter" I could have cried. So I asked if they would mind if we transferred the funds for the kit to them via PayPal, luckily they were happy with this.

We soon made our excuses and retreated back to the car, eager to get home. Finding our way back was not going to be much fun either as the weather was getting worse, and the car just didn't seem happy. It really did have a feel of 'You will not leave this place' .. 'Village of the damned' .. 'You're not from around these parts are you? Allow me to eat your brains!' .. I guess you had to be there, but really you would see exactly what I mean!

I cannot tell you how many times we saw 'CIDER ->' on our way home, and I assure you we were not traveling around in circles.

When we eventually managed to get to Exeter, we made a brief stop for munchies and then hit the motorway as fast as possible, getting home for just gone midnight.

To give you an idea of what Dunsford was like, you can check this link out (notice the Leisure, Where to Go, and Where to Stay pages from the main menu): http://www.dunsford.org.uk/

In other news I am now into my Second Trimester of Pregnancy, and I'm feeling great. I have an appointment with the midwife on the 11th, I'm slightly nervous .. just hopeful that everything is still ok. Please send positive thoughts!

Hello Sweeties,

It seems like an awfully long time since my last update, it often strikes me as odd that occasionally a collection of days can feel like an eternity in themselves. I do apologize for my quiet state Darlings, I've had all sorts of madness to deal with lately.

A little known fact about me is that I have a blood disease, I'm not contagious in the slightest, but I do require regular blood transfusions. The disease is called Thalassemia, which is a form of anemia and although it is most common in people of a Mediterranean origin, it does effect all races.
Recently I went for a blood transfusion, I'm not overly enthusiastic about the whole procedure and I'm generally not a squeamish person, but I do get uncomfortable sitting with tubes of blood so closely intertwined with my body. I always feel in better health afterwards though, I get a surge of energy and general sense of well being, and then reflect on how much that changes between treatments.. and think about just how important a persons health is.

Today was pretty rad, I went for my final session on my upper leg tattoo. It's now completely finished and I love it, my beau designed it for me, delicate Japanese art work which has been drawn to look like lace. I'll post some images once it's healed, as during the healing process images just don't do the ink any justice.

Last week we went to Nottingham to see Ian Siegal play at the Hotel Deux, if you don't know who Ian Siegal is then please trust me on the point that he is worth checking out: http://www.myspace.com/iansiegal
Ian is such a talented musician, his performance was breathtaking and it was an absolute joy to speak to the man himself at great length. We spoke of all manner of things, and Ian gave me some great advice.. I shall tell you all what he said in a journal entry soon, I just want to ponder his words and come to my own conclusions on their meanings before I share them with the world.

I've started playing Grim Fandango again on the PC, have any of you ever played it? I simply adore the game, I really like the whole concept of the Land of the Dead and how souls journey through it. Souls working as Grim Reapers to pay off their life debts. I won't enter too much detail for fear of spoiling it for those of you who want to play.. but suffice to say that it's a very cute and humorous RPG game.

My plans for Spain have been pushed back a little way, the UK GodsGirls are planning a photo shoot soon and I'm mighty excited about the whole thing! I cannot wait to meet the gorgeous ladies.
I've sent off a collection of DIY sets for your viewing pleasure, some of you may be pleased to know!

My Gods Girls Tee and Pants arrived today, I'll post some images soon - they're so comfortable and splendidly cute.

Images from my latest photo shoots should be arriving shortly, I'm anxious to see them for so many reasons. I've been working a lot for advertisements.. very inspiring projects. Yet still very hush hush..

Hello Cupcakes,

Stepping back onto the wet sidewalks in England, and feeling the chilling air enter my lungs, made me feel instantly lethargic. I do adore England's Winters, and the way that sometimes it can rain so much that the roads almost look like mirrors, but everything that I once loved so dearly about England is slowly declining, and now I find myself wistfully wanting to return to Spain the split second that the plane hits the runway.

Unfortunately I didn't make it over to the London Tattoo Convention to meet the beautiful ladies of Gods Girls, and I also wasn't able to perform at the Rubber Ball. This was all due to a rather last minute opportunity to secure an idyllic Villa in the mountains near Malaga, so a hasty trip over to Spain by airplane was priority.
The Villa could be ours for an absolute steal, it does need some major work doing to it and some minor fixing up, but that isn't something we're going to shy away from. The most exciting part of this stunning gem is the fact that we'll have lots of land with the Villa, and also planning permission in order to build a wine cellar, swimming pool, and recording studio. Splendid.
We're now working out all of the logistics to make this possible, we've been planning the move for quite some time but we didn't expect to find a Villa so soon. However this beautiful place becoming our home by Christmas is very likely..

My hippie-esque camper van is currently sat on the front lawn of Paul's house awaiting a new rear trailing arm. We've managed to source one for it so now we're eagerly awaiting its arrival. Once Paul, the wonderful mechanic that he is, attaches the new trailing arm, the van will be prepared for its new MOT and then it'll be ready to roll over to Spain once again.

Last night the beau and I went out to Old Orleans for dinner and an obscene amount of drinking. We were seated at a candle-lit table in front of the large bay windows, England becomes dark very early during the winter and the warm glow of the candle light reflected on the windows was simply gorgeous. Comforting in a way.
As usual at Old Orleans the waitress brought over a small plate of salted popcorn and two on-the-house shots of our choice before we placed our orders. I requested smoked salmon with green beans, lemon, and lime whilst my beau ordered a monster of a steak with fries. I haven't often dined at Old Orleans but the food is always fresh and delicious, I sometimes really wouldn't mind having a larger appetite as the deserts always look so inviting, however its rare that I won't struggle to finish a main course.
After our meal we headed over to the bar for a few more hours worth of drinking as the late showing at the cinema didn't start until 23:00. I decided I would spend my evening drinking mainly cocktails, and was soon a delightfully drunken doll. The cocktails weren't particularly well made, but they tasted divine so we'll let the lovely doe-eyed waitress off.

After drinks we headed further down Broad Street which is generally 'Chav Center' here in Birmingham, in order to reach the cinema. We went to see the late showing of Rob Zombies Halloween, and I do not wish to spoil it for those of you who have not yet seen it, but I found it to be quite a disappointment.
I really like the original Halloween, and in my opinion (especially when compared to the actress in Rob Zombies Halloween) Jamie Lee Curtis was fabulous as Lori, defining almost. It seemed to me that Rob Zombie has a few ideas for little parts that he would have liked to see in the original, but instead of making a film that was loosely based on one of his best loved horror films and making it seem original, he basically ripped off a concept and tried to make his idea of what a slasher horror should be. It felt like he couldn't be bothered to put the effort in to making his own concepts work, and so just used characters and loose plot line from a cult classic.. gareunteed to make box office sales.
Obviously I cannot speak for Rob Zombie, perhaps I'm way off base, but this is just my opinion.

After the film we made our way across the City Center to our bus stop, both of us thankful for the walk in the crisp night air. It wasn't long before the night bus pulled into the stop and everyone started to board, as I was about to drunkenly stumble onto the bus, two men were running down the street followed by some screaming teenage girls. I stepped aside to let them on and they gratefully took their seats, but the girls followed them onto the bus and were screeching obscenities at the men.
The girls were laying into these poor guys because they're gay. One of the girls started hitting the men whilst the others continued to shout unrepeatable abuse. The men just sat there and refused to rise to it, I couldn't believe that no one was prepared to step in or to say anything. The driver sat there and laughed.
After 30 seconds or so of the girls screaming and evidently not planning to give up anytime soon, I placed myself between the girls and the men and asked them to leave the bus. I then got spoken down to, the men were telling me to just let it go, and my beau was trying to interrupt. I remained calm and kept a level tone of voice but as soon as I went to slap one of the silly girls they ran off.
The men thanked me for helping and the bus pulled out to begin the crawl to the smaller towns. I was disgusted at the reaction of the bus driver, and shocked that everyone just shut down and silently watched the men being humiliated and victimized. The girls couldn't have been much older than fourteen, it's a sad state that the world has gotten in.

Squidge is utterly adorable and has taken to being a little poser lately, and as such he has his first major photo shoot towards the end of this month! My cute little Staffordshire Bull Terrier will be modeling dog collars and coats for Total Skull and Posh Paws. I'm not completely in support of people dressing their dogs up, however if the dog is happy and anything like my little pup and really feels the cold through winter, then I think that a correct fitting coat is acceptable.

Lately we've been thinking over the possibilities of re-homing a second dog from a rescue center, Squidge is remarkably friendly and rather playful so a four legged companion for him would be incredibly sweet. Whilst looking around various rescue centers we found Mya, a pretty little three year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier girl, and we pretty much fell in love with her instantly. Later this week we're taking Squidge over to meet her, and if they get along well we'll be re-homing Mya by the weekend! Here is a picture of the little lady:

So my debut set went live, I'm very happy to become an official Gods Girl, and thank you to those of you who have left me nice comments and positive feedback.
I'm proud of this set as I literally spent hours positioning the camera and setting the timer in order to capture the images for your viewing. It was indeed shot in my bedroom, and I was aiming to convey my softness at home. Many more sets to come!

Tomorrow I'm booked in to get some new Ink. It's an original piece and I cannot wait to show you all.

Until next time..
