oh my goodness, there is snooooooow. i am such a happy little lady.
this is how i eagerly bundle up when it gets cold outside. today has been a good day. i went to film studies class, which tutorial i refuse to attend because i could not handle the content of the film. well, i could. i just didn't want to. it was a soviet film from 1924, when i highly doubt special effects existed. so basically i saw a goat have its bloooody throat slit in a silent film in black and white. ick. not a good site for a vegan meeeee with a weak stomach in the mornings.
anyways, i laaaaaater cozied up and looked out the window and ate lentil soup inside, before trekking across campus to the music archives, where i listened to tom waits' asylum years on vinyl instead of doing any work. after tea with a friend, i eventually went home with my roommate around dinner because we CARPOOL to save the environment and shit, while still killing it. i like my roommate i think. we share awkward stories and make tofurkey feasts together. like today. everyone else in snowy little canadia will be celebrating thanksgiving this weekend too, but this week we decided to do it early because neither of us could wait. i am currently laying in bed with a food baby comprised of tofurkey/stuffing, sweet potatoes, and apple pie. my life is fucking complete basically. now i just need a tummy rub and someone cute to come listen to records. ;)
speaking of men, i think i am only ever going to attract crazies who hurt my feelings, or those who prematurely ejaculate like 12 seconds after me being naked and not actually touching them(good story).
OH. also, wanna know a more important thing i noticed? you know DOVE, who does those ALL EMPOWERING ridiculous fucking photoshopped "real women" deoderant and skin moisturizing commercials and stuff? basically selling us freedom and shit? did you guys know that in other parts of the world, their parent company sells women skin lightening cream? isn't that fucking ironic and depressing and completely oppressive bullshit? thank you for making women everywhere feel beautiful and accepted. i am so sorry, i just swore tons.

i have the discography. i wiiiiiiiiish i could say that same about my vinyl collection, but unfortunately i only have a couple, he's a difficult man to find. small change is my favourite.

Oh, absolutely.
So, I love all of Tom Waits stuff, but his earlier work appeals to me a little more. When I first heard his stylistic change, starting around Swordfishtrombones, I found it a bit jarring. Took me awhile to get used to.
His earlier music always gives me visions of the dark, smokey bar at 3 AM, the wet, cool streets of New York just prior to sunrise, late nights at the 24 hour diner (Hello, Nighthawks at the Diner), or the best parts of an old Raymond Chandler novel. I just love all that noir vibe. :)
