My life so far in 2009 posted : 01/09/09 at 11:22am pst

I am now in my last semester of my BSc. Wahoo! I am definitely not done school by any means but it at least feels good to close a chapter on something that I have been working at for awhile. I overloaded my semester so that I can graduate but that means that I will be swamped with work. I think I can handle it though. With some excellent time management skills I will pull it off. I am doing a research credit so that should be a different experience than taking lecture based courses anyway. I wanted to get a good start on my reading today since I don't have any classes but I am currently in bed with a runny nose and a cough. Hot! Someone come take care of me!

I had a really awesome Christmas and I got everything I wanted and more. My man took me to a Raptors game... and they lost, but that's ok. It really sucks being a Toronto sports fan this year. At least we had Team Canada to rely on. That team is like Old Faithful! I think this was the fifth year in row that they won the gold. I wish I could be a basketball fan in Boston or LA or a hockey fan in Montreal. Anyway... we stayed in a really sweet hotel that night just for fun. We had wanted to go to a bed and breakfast but then we would have had to drive all that way in the snow so we decided to stay in a boutique hotel instead. It was called Le Germain and it was so amazingly fancy and lovely. The shower was the best part ever, it had a huge shower head that rained water down on you... I took two showers while we there. The continental breakfast was so amazing too. Fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice, Montreal-style bagels, freshly made jam, amazing coffee and tea. mmmmm! That was an early Christmas present and then on actual Christmas I got a couple of books that I have been wanting for awhile, Oliver Sacks "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" and Mental Floss "History of The World: A Romp Through The Best Bits". Now I really want Mental Floss "The Dead Guy Interviews", it looks really good. Oh yes... I cannot forget my super sweet pot set that my mom got me. It's made by Earth Chef and is amazing. The bases are copper so they retain heat better and I have a sautee pan that the company plants a tree for every one sold. I also got an amazing printer from my dad. HP Photosmart C5580... look it up, it's awesome!

My hair is super long now and I love it so much but it gets tangled all the time. I promise my next entry will be laden with photo updates so stay tuned! xo

Do it! It's never too late. I totally hear you though... I have many unfinished programs in my track record because it just wasn't the right time. Now that I am old and boring it is perfect timing haha! I was really excited to see that your mom graduated from U of T med school because that's what I want to do!

I am so proud of you for doing so well and going so far in you schooling!  You are so amazing!  Are you still sticking to the vet plan?

And I am researching the Earth Chef brand right now and praying they have a vendor/ship to the u.s.  I am in dire need of some new awesome pans and pots!

I am actually switching my focus to med school for a couple of reasons. One of the main ones being that the only school that I can apply to is far from Toronto (and the boy) and I just really couldn't bear another four to five years of living apart. I also got really interested in human medicine after working at a emergency vet clinic last summer, ironically. I would always think about how the illnesses and treatments applied to people and it made me wish that I was working in a human hospital.

On the pots, I know it's a Canadian company but I hope they do have a US vendor because they are the best pots ever and I just love that they have an enivronmental focus.

I miss you and I hope life is treating you well after graduation. Send me a message sometime to let me know what you are doing with yourself these days. xo
