i am copying and pasting this because it is EXTREMELY important to me:

Joey is a good friend of mine and an amazing person.
unfortunately, he was harassed and beaten over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend for being...gay.

i spent Thanksgiving at his apartment and cannot wrap my mind around this.
he is one of the nicest, most real people i have met in the city - NO ONE deserves this, EVER.

City of New York, i can't even BEGIN to describe how incredibly DISAPPOINTED i am in you.
people move to this city from all over for many reasons, one of which is because it represents a bastion for those who are considered "different".

this is the second person i know to have been assaulted this year SIMPLY because of their sexual orientation!!
WE CANNOT LET THIS CONTINUE!!

 This is so horrendous, I truly hope your friend is alright and that the assailants were caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  Such a let down in humanity.
