so i don't leave the house much lately because i have taken on even more work than normal. i don't mind. i like to stay busy. i like things to be done as quickly as possible etc. this means that i am sort of bored once the work for the day is finished though because typically i am done working at very odd hours when there is nothing to do. andrew keeps a normal schedule because he has a normal job so in order to keep myself stimulated i decided to foster a dog. i wanted to foster a dog that was sort of unadoptable because i feel like i can devote enough time to taking a less than desirable dog and rehabilitating it a bit and socializing it and taking it to tons of adoption days to meet people. essentially, i figure i can put my marketing skills to work to do good. so i looked on petfinder.org and found a blind dog who has been fostered with this woman for a year. a year is a really long time for a dog to be fostered and not adopted and then i find out that he lives in her house in A CAGE full time. that sounds sad to me so i arrange for him to come and be fostered here instead.
i picked him up yesterday from the woman who had him. we met in a parking lot in pasadena for the hand off. i was expecting this dog to have a bunch of issues but as soon as she handed him to me he started kissing me. i put him in the passenger seat of my car and he just sat there smiling and being totally cute. i dont think this is the dog that i had in mind haha. he is totally adoptable and not weird or pitiful at all.

i took him directly to petsmart to get a leash and some pee pads and a tie out thing so that he can sit in the front yard. i honestly have never met a sweeter dog in my life. he plays so nicely outside and frolicks about and rolls around and is just generally very good natured and happy. when he is in the house he walks around sort of crouched down low, moving pretty slowly and carefully since he is blind but he gets around well. he only bumped into something a couple of times. he doesn't yap which is amazing since he is a pomeranian and these dogs love the sounds of their own voices. when he is inside i put him on the couch or in the bed with me and he just sits quietly and kisses me or goes to sleep. he stays where ever i put him. perfect lapdop. right now is sitting next to me asleep. i couldnt get a picture of him sleeping because his hearing is so sensitive and every time i click the mouse to take a picture he wakes up to see what is happening but here he is.

seriously the sweetest little guy ever. i think that the woman who is in charge of the rescue has a home for him now so he will probably only be here for a couple more days unless that adoption falls through. if it does fall through then he is up for adoption in southern california and i can drive him as far as san diego or santa barbara for a new home. i think he is a perfect dog for a first time dog owner or even for a child. when he is outside i poke him and touch his paws and his tail and roll him around to see if he would get annoyed with the kind of stuff that kids do to dogs and he doesnt mind at all. he is so good! so if anyone is interested in Lance (like the cyclist because he only has one (eye)ball) then let me know and maybe you can have him.
i have no idea why the woman who was fostering him would keep him in a cage for a year. that is terrible. he doesn't even need to go in a crate. some people crate their dogs because they are destructive when they are left alone but i left lance out all night and he stayed asleep in the same spot the whole time.
andrew is already in love with him and doesn't seem to understand why we can't keep him but he really should go to another home where he can be the center of attention.
