About Me Aglaia a-glaia, ag-laia (ah - glay - uh) Aglaia is so much more than an easily-mispronounced name, a tree, or a greek goddess, the name represents the mythology of beauty, betrayal, emotion, and the melancholy of sisters. It is the quiet calm in a summer evening, the appearance of butterflies on your windshield when you are stuck in traffic, watching something like the trade towers falling before your eyes on television with no way to stop it, the slow and tender caress of the one you love... it is beauty divine. It is bittersweet agony in disguise, but sometimes, it is simply just wonderful. ______ you can find me on : AIM @ melancholyaggie Live Journal @ archaicaglaia.livejournal.com

So my boyfriend is topside (as he calls it) for the next week, and he's been calling me every chance he can get. I sincerely adore it when I can speak with him, so I'm loving this constant attention he's throwing at me. Not that he's not on my mind all the time -anyway-, but this certainly helps keep him in mind. =)

I'm apparently going out to see him sometime this winter, when he has time off from being all mature and stuff with the military. It's going to be one ... interesting week, i'll say that much! I'll be asking him to help me with a photoset and we'll see what he can whip up, he's a mighty good hand with ropes and knots and saying all manner of things that make me blush or make a cute little face for the camera, so i think it would be adventerous to say the least, tehe.

Oh oh oh! Update on my 'vegetarianism' - I told my family that I"m going to slowly transition into it, i.e. if i notice something I eat normally has meat in it, i substitute it, or avoid it as I notice it. I've been looking for grocery stores with a vegan/kosher/organic/vegetarian aisle taht has the things i'll eat in it. I've been roaming menus at my typical spots to eat (and not to typical spots) and ma changing my lifestyle habits ever so slightly more and more as I go along. I'm not going cold turkey over night - it doesn't work for smokers, why would it work for me? So we'll see how it goes =)
BUT my mother, in her motherly love, did something so ... mother-like that I laugh about it now. It was shortly after telling her I wanted to be a vegetarian that there was family dinner. I walk in, and there's a big glass casarole dish of baked apples with a sugar glaze and what looked to be cinnamon. MmmMm - is what I was thinking. that is, until she pulled off the apples and exposed quite a few pork chops.

Now, I've never really liked pork chops to begin with. And then after let everyone know that i'd rather not eat meat altogether - she still makes meat for dinner. sheesh. So when she was looking I ate two bites and shoved the rest ot the other side of the plate and ate the sides and salad.

I guess one never really grows up when you are in the presence of your mother =)

I wonder how thanksgiving is going to be....

So today, after waking up this morning to the austin powers' theme song on my blackberry, I went to work, only to be met by a new coworker; upping the number of vegetarians that I work with to a grand total of 2, then a few hours and doctors' visit later (complete with written prescriptions), I found myself sitting with my grandmother at a local down-to-earth burger joint enjoying a fried bologna sandwich topped with pickles and mustard.
& It was YUMMY.

I'm honestly considering becoming a vegetarian though. It's hard work, I'm sure. Preparing meals in advance and actually paying closer attention to what I ingest, but surely it is just as amazing every time I eat raw veggies - I just feel better. yay for good food!
And speaking of Vegetarians, I've met some hardcore vegans lately. Kosher-style Vegans even. Such as "if it's prepared in a plant with meat or cheese I cant eat it, even if it's vegetable based" (i.e. sauce). So that was interesting and educational.

But is anyone a vegetarian on here?
What strictness do you adhere to? Where do you eat? Where do you shop for groceries? How do you prepare ahead and keep it fresh/edible? Why did you become a vegetarian? How has it helped? I'm SO interested to know. I'm going to do a ton of research on this and see if it would possibly help my small ailments, i.e. psoriasis, lactose intolerance and hypoglycemia. One can only hope.

oh and as it turns out - the set i THOUGHT was accepted was actually the one that was denied... soooo either way you guys still get a set, and I'm happy with that. so that is pleasant and enjoyable for you. =)
