My new/old set
posted : 05/31/08 03:46 am pst
listening to: nothing, its too early
If it wasn't obvious, I shot this set the day after I got back from India. It actually kinda happened by accident! I'd totally forgotten about it. I like the colours :) Thats nearly all my sets up and I want more already!

In a few days Im heading home to London to do some non GG shooting, which should be fun. Hopefully I'll get some stuff booked up. Im actually dying my hair too- ive been growing it out for over a year- even before this set, which was shot last summer. I wanted to get rid of all the old unhealthy hair but i relented- I don't wanna be taking pictures with dry, yellow straw hair. The dye I got is just a dark brown, very similar to my natural colour for now, and free from amonia and stuff so it shouldnt do too much damage.

why am i sharing this?! this isnt interesting!

Annnywaay, Ive just noticed a hair disapear into my coffee. Eeew.

I'm gong to Dublin !

My marginally estranged sister text me today. For any of you who have read my blogs recently you'll know this came as a suprise. I was a little worried about what it was about, but when I read it she basically said that the girls were going to Dublin for three days in June and she'd booked me a plane ticket. I havnt spoken to her since she laid into me so it was totally unexpected but totally awesome. Ive never been to Dublin! Im so excited! Im excited we're going to be going together and Im excited about a weekend away. Rad.
Were gonna save money by not taking any luggage, just taking a handbag and sharing clothes, haha. Cant wait. Im so stoked :)

Last night I went to a girl down the roads party. There was a male stripper which was totally awkward, Im so not into that kinda thing. He seemed a really nice guy though, and after a lot of shots it was actually kinda funny. So much penis.
Beer Festival

I went to a beer festival last night. I dont even like beer, but they had amazing mead. After the beer festival I tottered along to a Ben and Jerrys tasting evening. That was pretty good. Then I realised I hadnt had dinner, felt a bit funny, got one of my scary and erratic mood swings and everything went wrong.

I woke up this morning after a dream i had a lot of pink and purple put in my hair. It looked cute. When I looked in the mirror this morning i was a little confused for a bit. Im very very bored of my hair, i dont know what to do with it. Its just the kind of hair that never ever changes :(

Depressing start to the day!

ho hum. Im gonna go do the food shop.

Firstly, thanks to everyone who showed their support over my last blog, that was really sweet of you all, and very reassuring :)

I needed a bit of that. I still feel a bit funny about it, and it still hurts quite a lot, but Im also starting to think that maybe some of you are right- she is my sister, and she should be my sister no matter what. I like to think Ive always done the same for her.

However, I really dont think its jealousy or anything like that. Tubs could do or be whatever she wanted. I do think she genuinely just thinks I'm a disgusting person. Ive recieved one message since with some unnecassary digs about me getting so fat, and being a humilation to her, but since then its all been quiet. I hear about how she is and what shes up to through my mother and thats it. i guess its best to leave it like that for now. I'm just not looking forward to her returning to London in the summer and the potential awkwardness of that. Im sure I'll keep y'all updated.

Anyway- good news! After assuming I'd never actually get a house after months of looking Im in the process of putting down a deposit on a new house! yay!!

We'd been looking for ages and I just didnt see anything I liked. I assumed I would never find anything the right size, or near Mill Road or with a good living room but I'm totally happy with this house. Its four bedroom and I think Im getting one of the larger rooms. It has a massive front room with a little area we're gonna convert into a studio space, what with 3 of us being illustrators. It has about 4 sofas and a tv we can buy, a gas fire that doesnt work and a massive wood open plan kitchen with a big wood table and a garden that leads right to the supermarket. The road is really quie and the bedrooms are nice enough. As I said, Im totally happy with it :)

The landlady is an old indian lady and the contract was totally illegible. I hate doing things like contracts and forms and deposits, so i did what every independant, modern woman would do- I phoned my Daddy. He called my landlady, worte up a new contract, sorted out some loop holes and problems and is loaning me £497. Score.

A bit lame, but hey- it gets the job done!!

So thats picked me up recently. Im not moving in till September- but if anyone wants to see beautiful Cmabridge and check out my lovely new masive living room.....

;)

Yesterday was a quintessential English summer day. In the morning I went to look for a Million Dead album but couldn't find one so ended up getting Mew instead. Million Dead- Mew.. you can see how that ended up happening.
It was freakishly hot and bright, really amazing weather. Last year we didnt have a summer, only rain and grey, so I've been waiting over a year for this. Cambridge is a beautiful place to be in the sun so as soon as any is out everyone flocks en mass to the parks to spread out and play.
I got a bag of sweets and a frozen coffee (EAT do the best ones ever) and then bought a frisbee and we played in the park and lay in the grass. Then we went for a walk and stumbled across a fair where a pikey stole my frisbee. But it was brightly coloured and fun anyway.
On the way home, like everyone else in the country, we decided to get a BBQ. It was the BEST BBQ EVER. We bought tune steaks, salmon steaks and tofu. Our BBQ consisted of tuna marinaded in chili and lime, salmon marindaded in salt, pepper and lemon and tofu/pepper kebabs. I also made a potato salad and roasted herb potato slices. Ben brought Benny's Beans, which were some kinda chili bean thing. It was epic.
The day ended with a trip to the pub for a few hours of lazing about. It was a good day :)

I had my show at the Torture Garden the other day, I should probably talk about that. Ah well... next time! x x

Im currently embroiled in essay writing. Im writing about how social, political and economical change affected American Printmaking between 1900 and 1950. Ive never looked at American art or history that concisely before so Im actually finding it really interesting. If only the deadline wasn't looming!!

So yeah, today Ive listened to three Hot Water Music Albums, one Chuck Ragan cd, 2 Jesu albums and Modest Mouse 'We were dead before the ship even sank' twice. Im now on Mogwai.

....thats how much time Ive spent sat at my computer.

Anyone with a specific knowledge on American printmaking feel free to give me tips!

PRETTY PERVY FASHION SHOW! PICTURES!

Ok, I suppose I should post about my catwalk for Pretty Pervy @ London Alternative Fashion Week on Monday...
If you live in England and you got the Metro on Tuesday- Im in that!

I had a really good day dressing up as a giant inflatable sea creature lady, the dress was beautiful :)

When at the show I had the pleasure of getting to help pick out the male models for an underwear catwalk.. They were all lined up in their teeny tiny pants outside against a wall shivering their nuts off and we just stood about saying 'yeaah i want the one in the grey.. and the one in the red...'
awesome.

Most of the day was spent in the backstage tent have the make up done and nipping to get tea coffee and cheese and picle sandwiches.

We had a rehearsal catwalk in which i had to walk up and down for aggess whilst some woman filmed for the BBC. I wasnt keen on this because Im not a catwalk model and so felt a little bit out of place. I felt even more out of place backstage with all the teen skinny naked girls.. ah well.

Anyway, the actual show went really well. I pretty much forgot how to walk- which was made harder by having massive heavy tentacles. But i got through it and even had fun. The other models were lovely and it seemed to get loads of publicity- Ive seen pictures in the Evening Standard and the msn home page.

Cant wait for the next show at the Torture Garden Birthday Ball! :)
