Which one do you use? And what are your reasons for choosing one brand over the other?
I use Nikon because I liked the menu systems better and the F-mount compatibility of the lens. I like the color a little better and thought it was easier to change settings because of the two dials near the shutter button. The flash (CLS) system seems easier to use as well.
I really like Canons too, and if I wasn't using Nikon, I'd use them, but no other brand DLSRs but those two.... |

I love Nikon. I used to use Pentax but I found that the Pentax produce really grainy stuff! It sucks.
I have a D80 and it's super easy to use and the colours are MUCH better, I agree.
I just wish everything wasn't so damned expensive!!!!! haha |

I haven't shot on a Canon digital yet (just changed to dslr from film), but the D90 is serving me very well for both scenic and portrait work. I believe Nikon runs just slightly cheaper than the canon which was one of my reasons in choosing it. Other than the very minimal price different I don't think you can go wrong choosing either.
Nikon has a new one coming out and it looks very nice.

I'm looking into buying my first slr and I'm so torn between the two. I'll sit online for hours reading reviews on Canons and then I'm like "OK, I'm getting a Canon" and then I'll sit and read Nikon reviews and be like "Just kidding, I'm getting a Nikon" Canons and their accessories seem to be so much more expensive, but everyone keeps saying you get what you pay for. hrrmmmmm. |

I spent a lot of time a couple of years back reading up on the Nikon/Canon thing. The end result was I got a Holga, lol.
I still shoot almost all medium format film. I have a Hasselblad and just love it. My preference would be to get a digital back for it, but they're so damn expensive.
So, I may end up throwing down for a DSLR in the next year or so. I've always leaned more towards the Nikons (I shot Nikon film cameras), but I have been pretty blown away by the quality of the 5dmkII images I've seen. It's not a camera for the average person, but if I make the jump from my Hassey I'm going to want a pretty high quality full frame camera.
I saw some images shot at 6400 ISO on the 5dmkII that looked amazing. I think it's pretty likely that's the camera I'll get, if I buy one in the next year or so. |

I very first started shooting on an old manual Nikon f2 and never could find another 35mm that I liked nearly as much, and it was all about the view finder.
I've been using canon point n shoots for several years, and just recently picked up a Canon dSLR xSI. The controls are damn near the same, so it was easy for me to figure it out pretty quickly, but I'm definitely not using it to it's full potential. The one big pain in my ass is that it will NOT take macro photos without the flash popping up, so I don't bother trying. It makes me so mad.
My favorite little quirk is that you can set it to take jpgs and raw at the same time - it'll make a copy in each format. |

I love the Holga! you can do a lot of creative film shots!
But I typically lean towards Nikon. I have a Nikon DSLR and found it to be totally what i needed. But recently My friend let me borrow his brand spanking new Cannon and I really liked its photo quality. |
