Over It is a growing alternative/pop punk phenomenon with their hearts in their music and their music in their hearts. Turning doing what they love with their friends into timeless music is their intention, and their dedication and honor should be rewarded ten fold. I first saw Over It on MySpace, a few years ago. They were always so positive, and persistent in finding a way to give back what their fans gave to them. I specifically remember seeing them on the Warped Tour roster that year, playing a side stage, and because of that, making time to go check out what they were about. They are a group of solid, humble dudes with a vision for their creativity that should give anybody the inspiration they should need to go for the gold. Spending tons of the time on the road, and playing shows to promote their new record is a pretty good way to put yourself out there, right? Not to mention printing your band's name on BIC lighters, too. =)

Over It! is: Nick Bailey, James Ulrich, Peter Munters, Seth Watts, Ryan Ogren.

Nick is a friend, an amazing musician, and a godsgirls fan. We spoke while he watched the Weather Channel, out and about on tour doing what he loves. This is what he had to say:

Veronica: Tell me about how Over It formed. I know you're on the road right now. Where you at!?

Nick: Over it started as four friends from Virginia who shared a love for music. We all dropped out of school, saved up some skrilla and moved out to California 3 years ago. We slept on floors, and played any show we could to get our band out there! Come to think of it, we pretty much still do... after a few tours and some good times we scored a deal with Virgin records, added a 5th member and made a new album. This leads us to today. Sitting in a hotel in Tucson Arizona on tour kickin, waiting for our show.

Veronica: How has your tour been so far?

Nick: Awesome! Our new album just dropped so it feels really good to be out and about hyping it up! We have been playing 2 shows a day on this run, acoustic during the daytime and then the full band later in the night. It's fun to be this busy. And of course lots of parties!

Veronica: Two interesting things about each member of your band. GO!

Nick: Me, I'm obsessed with the 80's and saving up for my first tattoo. James is the youngest and can handle the most alcohol. Peter, he loves stray cats and any sushi that you can make! Seth worked at Toys R Us, and met his girlfriend on the Warped Tour!!! Ryan is discovering his secret love for country music and shaves all the hair on his body.

Veronica: Out of the five albums you have released to date, which is your favorite?

Nick: Definitely the new joint, STEP OUTSIDE YOURSELF. Our early stuff was kinda more like demos, at least to us. The beginning for us was when we moved out west, before that was kinda just learning our instruments, ha ha!

Veronica: I'm sure the new album is your favorite because you are able to hear your progress as musicians in it's latest state. What about your new album makes it your favorite? Which songs are your favorites to play?

Nick: I'm really stoked on the new joint because it was such an accomplishment for us. We had so many obstacles both personally and musically during the record process, we really learned a lot through it all. That's kinda where the title, STEP OUTSIDE YOURSELF, comes from. It's a mentality we found to live by. It's really just about putting your life in perspective and making the most of all that you have. Plus, we wrote songs about a range of topics from racism to our favorite T.V. show, LOST. So, we really got to express ourselves on this one! Our favorite songs to play are: "Think Against the Grain" and "Your Song."

Veronica: What is the most important thing to you that you are able to accomplish through playing music? Both for yourself, and the band?

Nick: For me, music is the soundtrack to life. There are songs that fit any emotion or any time in your life and I love that! That's what we want to do as a band - be a part of that soundtrack. To think that someone could listen to our music and get through a bad time in their life, or even the greatest of times, that means the world to us. We want to give back. Songs that stand the test of time are the purest form of audio beauty and we want to be a part of that! Beyond that, who doesn't like to travel and play sweet guitars???!!!!

Veronica: Right?! Ha ha, awesome! So then, if you could make a soundtrack of any ten songs, what would they be?

Nick: Hmmm, that depends on the soundtrack. Are we talkin like... cruisin' with your homies, or ya got a broken heart and you're all bummed out?

Veronica: Either/or. Mix? Maybe a soundtrack that would played in your van?

Nick: HIM- Behind The Crimson Door
NOFX- Kids of the K Hole
Feeder- Pushing the Senses
Acceptance- Take Cover
Against Me!- Dont Lose touch
John Mayer- Slowdancing in a Burning Room
Clear Static - 97 lies
The Exit- Home for an Island
Head Automatica- Lying Through Your Teeth
Racal Flatts- My Wish

Ha ha, I could go on forever I love the mixtapes!!!!

Veronica: Be a crystal ball for me and show me what's in your future.

Nick: We are going to be on tour supporting the record for at least the next year. US, Europe, Japan, and Australia. Hopefully South America, cause I hear its amazing down there. Always on tour... rock shows are our future!

Veronica: What do you draw inspiration from to create the music that you do?

Nick: It comes from all over. From life experiences, girls, family, drugs, the ocean... you can't control the wind you can only set sail.

Veronica: What would you say to someone about your band, that could make them listen?

Nick: We're on a mission to write timeless songs. This is our honest effort - take it, or leave it.

Veronica: Anything you want to tell us about or plug? Add? Complaints, concerns?

Nick: Check out our new record, and I wanna plug GodsGirls for being the hottest joint on the block!!!!

Veronica: Oh shit! Who are your favorite godsgirls??

Nick: All of the Gods Girls are beautiful. Faves are KATE!! Definitely have a huge crush on her. Chelsea, Sparrow, and Veronica!

Thanks Nick. And thanks to all you guys. Keep on, keepin' on and you'll get all you deserve.
