DIRTY TACTICS
interview by erin
I was trotting along the internet one merry day when I received an IM (instant message) from miss Veronica telling me frantically that I needed to find these boys that call themselves "Dirty Tactics." I pondered long and hard on where I might find these young men and low and behold, I came up with finding them on myspace! Maybe you've heard of it, it's a networking website. I hear its pretty big these days with the kids. Anyway! I got a hold of Gary (vox) and proposed I do this thing they call an "interview" with him. He and I share something in common... we both have T-Mail email addresses. I like that about Gary.
Hailing from Philadelphia the trio can be described as being heavily influenced by One Man Army musically and in my opinion, Anti Flag. From what I hear they are looking into a few things but, this is definitely a good candidate for tour support.
And now, a word from our sponsor (not really but, whatever) :
Dear people that are reading about Dirty Tactics,
Not only should you listen to Dirty Tactics because you have nothing better to do, you should listen to Dirty Tactics because I said so. Nothing is more inspiring or better for your ears than the sound of aspirations. They also drink shitty champagne.
Dear Dirty Tactics,
Please surrender your bass player to me. Or else.
Always,
Veronica.
Erin: Hello boys from Philly
Gary: Hello girl from Internet
Erin: Word on the street is that you're friends with Veronica (GodsGirl). How do you know her?
Gary: That's an interesting question…we're homies with her homies, and we had a champagne jam in Vegas not too long ago.
Erin: If you had to describe your music in 3 words of less, what would those 3 words be?
Gary: Gnar, shred, and silly.
Erin: Do you have any plans for touring anytime soon?
Gary: We were on the road all last year and just got back from the west coast. Hopefully, we will hit up the northeast in march.
Erin: How would feel if I re-named tomato…fluffinred?
Gary: I'd be munching on them fluffinreds on the daily, regardless.
Erin: What's your favorite town/venue to play?
Gary: Odessa, Texas
Erin: Haha, that's a random town.
Erin - If you make it to Canada anytime soon, would you put my mother on your guest-list?
Gary - That sounds like a plan shorty, tell Ma Dukes she'll be straight.
Erin: Would you be opposed to me renaming all of you with code names? Do you already have code names?
Gary: We always rock code, Gary="gfresh," Dan="ksd," Jeff="you've gotta be karate kiddin' me Daniels," our ride goes by the name "Clifford" and our first trailer was "TBone" (RIP). Our new one is "TZone" and Dan's old iPod was "Tyrone"…Moan.
Erin: Haha, those are amazing. I like that you named your iPod, my iPod's name is “Puppy the Third.”
Erin: What's the first thing that pop's into your head when I say the word... PURPLE?
Gary: Barney…sho nuf.
Erin: who would you say is the most influential bands to your band and you personally?
Gary: What you know bout Otis Redding? We're into all kinds of music. I like The Replacements, the Clash, and the Pixies a lot. Dan likes Against Me. Jeff likes the Beatles and Dying Fetus.
Erin: Do you want to come and ride a Pegasus with me?
Gary: On a Pegasus we shall ride.
